.
You'll recall how much fun I had trying to get virus protection installed on our newer computer last Friday.
I believe I succeeded.
However.
It ran its scan, and found one trojan, in an old (purchased on cd!) game.
Yesterday my husband went to the directory with the bad file. The virus protection popped up, and deleted the file. Didn't ASK him if he wanted the file deleted, it just did it.
When he was ready to get off the computer, it said there were system updates ready to install. He said ok, and walked away.
This morning it will. not. boot.
Bluescreen after bluescreen.
Even in safe mode.
I have email into the virus busters at the U, and so far the response I've gotten is "that shouldn't happen."
Well. Gee. Thanks.
I KNEW THERE WAS A REASON I DIDN'T WANT TO DO THE VIRUS-PROTECTION THING...........................
Sigh.
ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Too bad I didn't think to put an image of the drive on the external drive before I started messing with the virus protection..............................
This whole virus-protection thing makes me crazy.
I mean.
Is it a protection racket or what???????????????????????????????????//
SIGH.
Fearing we'll be wiping the computer and starting over.....................
Sigh.
