The Really Strong Storm got to us on Thursday. It was cold. The temps were in the very low double digits (F). It was very windy. Branches went down, taking power lines with them. We were very lucky -- our power was only out for an hour, in the middle of the night. Others were not so lucky. One of my co-workers, who lives less than a mile from us, was without power for 12 hours. Way too cold for that!!!!
Our elderly windows are not as airtight as would be desirable. So they frost. Just a small area was clear.

In the evening of the 11th, I heard them say that we got 4" of snow, but only one of those inches was left on the ground. I wonder who has the rest!

More frost on the window. Do you see that one skinny line taking a 90-degree turn to the right? I wonder why...................

Closeup of above.

Wilbur had been living on his own wits for a long time before he came to us. He was a year old (estimation by vets), and had been making his living near a bunch of summer homes in Kentucky.
When he first came to live with us, in November of 1999, he had no expectation that he would be let into the house. We would let him out, and he would curl up under a bush. It didn't take too long for him to figure out that if he barked, he could make us open the door *and* we would let him in!
He cried, sometimes, perhaps remembering the pleasant parts of life on the open road.
He decided fairly soon, though, that collars are Very Good. He will stick his neck out for a collar, any time one is offered. (Probably because they may mean a walk is imminent!)
We talk about certain days being Very Bad for an Under-a-Bush Dog. Especially a smallish dog without many hairs almost hardly........
The 10th was surely one of those days!
The 10th was a Very Good Day to be a Collar Dog............
