I made three trips to Health Service, and the third time, I was told that I would just have a bump; that I could get it sliced but it was going to hold stead and it probably wasn't worth getting it sliced.
Sigh.
So it held steady for many weeks, and then decided it would get worse. Over the last couple of weeks it got bigger. And redder. And sometimes itched......
Tuesday I hied myself back to Health Service, and this time I got referred to the guy who slices.
This is what it looked like around 1:00 yesterday afternoon.

They did a vision exam, and a glaucoma exam, which I completely didn't get. I'm not a "new patient," I went to get sliced. The yellow around my eye below is from the numbing drops for that (rather than the numbing drops before they sliced me).
In addition to the drops just before the slicing, I had an injected "anesthetic" -- in quotes because I don't think it worked at all. It hurt as much as such things always do, going in, and then I felt them slice, and I felt them scraping it out.
(noting that, as nasty as it is to have people messing with the inside of your mouth, the inside of your eyelid is worse.........)
Sigh.
They had some sort of device that flipped my eyelid back, and they sliced from the inside.
Apparently this only works for 90% of people with this issue, but I was one of the lucky ones, and they got all sorts of disgust out. (Eewh!)
Let's hope that is the end of that! Not an experience anyone would want to have once, let alone more often.................
The place was right by Trader Joe's, so I thought I'd go shopping while I waited to see if my eye got un-blurry so I could drive home.
It did, but ... while I was at Trader Joe's, the anesthetic wore off, and ... damn.
Since I was right there, I went back to the eye place, and inquired. "Oh yes, that will be quite uncomfortable."
Don't you think someone should have discussed that with me? So do I...........
They told me I could take ibuprofen.
So I went home and did that.
And here's what it looked like. The slicing guy told me he'd made the purple dot. I wonder why, given that he sliced on the inside.............. Whatever.
More purple after, where it was red earlier, about the same size, less well-defined shape after..............

My regular eye guy called me not too long after I got home, to see how I was doing. He's a good guy.
He told me I could take another ibuprofen (I'd only taken one, as is my usual custom), and could have another two in four hours, etc. He said that he expected I would feel noticeably better every day.
By 6:30 yesterday evening it felt better than earlier, but definitely not happy.
Throughout this whole thing it had never hurt....................
Until yesterday.
Hoping this is the end of it!
!!!
And. Noting that, of all the things one could have go wrong with one's body, this one is trivial to the point of insignificance.....................
Being grateful that this was my only Known Issue................
.

Holy cow. I hope it gets better soon.
And it's not trivial--it's your eyes! Whine as much as you like. ;-)
Thanks! :-)
I just think about Haiti, and think "Wow, I'm not squished under a building (along with my children) -- what on earth can I possibly be complaining about........."
It doesn't mean what's bothering me doesn't bother me, but ... that old perspective thing...........
