update

.

Experienced a small setback yesterday.

I've been cutting my own hair for decades, and have cut my fingers with the scissors many times. Perhaps it's time to get some kevlar gloves. This was the worst cut I've gotten this way.

Usually I cut smallish V-shaped snips on top of my fingers, but this time I apparently tried to grab the whole finger with the scissors.

Sigh.

As cuts go, this is minor, I'm sure, but it put me right off my stride.

After a moment of adrenaline, I kept calm and carried on. I made a butterfly bandage from adhesive tape (hard when you don't want to use one of your index fingers!) and pulled the cut together in the middle. Especially as it is over the joint. It won't be staying shut without help............

Then I finished cutting my hair.

In the pic there is a regular bandaid over the adhesive tape, mostly to keep the butterfly from getting pulled off.........

I grafted the toe on the second slipper.

Isn't it interesting how different they look?

The garter stitch definitely grows a bit lengthwise and shrinks, noticeably, widthwise.

Now all I have to do is felt, and I'll be done.

As for the snow update ... we got a few flakes yesterday, but nothing measurable. Our thermometer said it was nearly 40(F) yesterday afternoon. Wilbur and I took a walk around the flat block across the street, kinda late-ish. Six-ish, I think.

By then it was starting to think about getting icy, so we only did the one block.

These pics are from just now.

The sun came out for about one minute.

Then went behind more clouds.

I wanted to show how high the snow is, where we've been piling it when we shovel.

I think the sidewalk squares are 5' square........

It gets hard to find a place to put the snow. Hard to lift it high enough to toss it beyond the peak of the pile (because if you put it on or forward of the peak, it just falls right back down on the pavement......... In the narrow space between the sidewalk and the street, it gets to be all peak with no "behind," meaning you have to carry it somewhere else.............
