Wibble

.

Wibbs was definitely not himself this morning.

Slow, and slow to eat. He did all the hoped-for elimination in the back yard, but after his breakfast, he was definitely not ok. Shivering. Grunting.

Oy.

Remembering that the last time he was definitely "off," he got a Very Expensive Enema (which resulted in days of bloody poop.....), I decided to take him for a walk.

He was definitely not himself, but he was out at the end of the leash most of the time. He was sniffing stuff. Not as much as usual, but not just plodding along not sniffing either.

He did poop again.

He was definitely still droopy when we got home. He napped away the morning, and showed up, hopeful, when Bob put on shoes to go to the basement to use the ski machine.

He shared my chicken soup with rice, and seemed pretty normal in the late afternoon.

I took him for another walk. (Each of today's walks has been half-a-mile-ish.) He pooped again....... For him all this elimination is not totally out of the realm of possibility, but I wouldn't be surprised if he was a bit backed up. It rained all day yesterday and the day before, so he hadn't had a walk since Thursday.

If I thought he had that much guile, I'd think he was training us to be sure to take him on walks All The Time.........................

Teaching us that if we want everything to keep moving, so to speak, we'll walk him and walk him........................

Just glad he's ok, AND with no vet vi$it.

Whew! The first paragraph made me catch my breath. I'm so glad he perked up.

ME TOO.

Thanks for the sympathetic thoughts. I did not have a good day yesterday........ (Seriously need to work on my "We don't know that anything is terribly wrong; let's not freak just yet" thinking.......)

He has been taking mucinex (with his vet's approval) to help with his congestion. He takes Claritin every day (recommended by his vet), and when the congestion is more in his chest, and he's coughing, I give him mucinex as well.

He'd been on mucinex for several days.......

I looked up side effects, and for people it's all about nausea and vomiting and lethargy.

Didn't find anything about side effects for dogs, but I'm wondering if that may have contributed.....

He's never been a "need a walk all the time" dog in the past..........

Not that walks are bad, but I don't like to go out when I know he'll need a bath when we get home!

At least he's not a corgi. Buzz, who had a low and wide chest, would have been needed a belly bath every time Wibler and I have gone out since the temp rose and the snow went.......

I should update to say he is JUST like himself today. I did not give him any mucinex last night.....

Thanks again, Penni. I appreciate your good thoughts!
