Forsythia.
Forsythia is a shrub. It's really not all that fond of being shaped. That one over there, across the street, isn't nearly as lush as the one in the closeup above.

I know there are a lot of different magnolias, and I have no idea what any of them are.
This is the kind I think of as "the usual kind."
