May 13

.

See the library (from the back), upper left?

There used to be a parking lot here.

Look how deep that is!

Creepy!!!!!!!

The city council (pushed very hard by the mayor) decided that what "we" really needed was an underground parking structure.

Just so we're clear what my biases are, I hate parking structures. Going round and round, up and up, makes me feel like an ant, or something. Ick.

But going down and down? WELL below the surface of the ground?

I think NOT. *NOT*!!!!!!

Have they never heard of flooding???????????????????????

I suppose it's a good sign that there are zero puddles down there. We've had a lot of rain over the last week or so.

But still.

I used to use the parking lot that was replaced by this cavern (does a cavern have to have a lid? so it *will* be a cavern, once complete, but now ... isn't?). Whatever you call it, I won't be driving round and round, down and down, into the bowels of the earth...............

No way. No how.

Feh.

Ok.

Cleansing breath........

Let's look at some flowers.

I said we'd had lots of rain..... On the morning of the 13th it POURED for quite some time, and thundered. The rumbly kind, not the CRASH and BOOM kind.

So here's a bunch of wet stuff for you.

Iris.

Pinks.

I wasn't thinking about ID when I took these. The needles have a yew-ish look, but the arrangement isn't as flat as I think of for yews.

Ok. The above was all at lunch time.

Now we're home and walking the dog.

I said that the dogwoods were sort of pathetic this year, but that really wasn't true of the pink ones......

Here's a very nice big pink one.

Poppy bud.

With friend.

Love the poppy bud - great picture. Not such a big fan of the friend, though. :)

It was little -- half-inch-ish, total -- and it was outside.

I am pretty laisez-faire about bugs, unless I know they are likely to come after me. No mercy for mosquitoes. Or yellow jackets.

No mercy for fleas or ticks.

No mercy for spiders in the bedroom. Outside on someone else's plant.... I don't care. :-)

I did chop a grub I unearthed pulling a siberian elm sapling. I don't know what it was. Hope it wasn't something ok, but it was big and the choppers were right there.................

Thinking about it, I'm sure my "no mercy" list would grow (a lot) if I lived somehwere tropical where the bugs are ginormous.............

I forgot to say "thanks!" for the kind words aobut the poppy.

I was pleased to see all those "hairs" so nice and clear, when I got the image on "the big screen."
