On the 22nd, we visited Lodi Farms nursery, looking for a birthday present.
Of course I had to check out all the flowers.........
Fairly early on I realized it was, like, a *nursery*, and all the plants were, like, *labeled*.
Then I even remembered to look at the tags. Mostly.
So I know that this, which I sort of thought maybe was hydrangea when I saw it on campus a couple of weeks ago, is really a viburnum.
No scent that I noticed, on the 22nd or when I saw them a few weeks ago.
What a shame -- scented viburnum smells sooooooooooooooo good..........
Ah well.

Dogwood. These were big -- maybe 3" across?

Another dogwood. I didn't like the look of this one from a distance as well as the one above, but it's very cool up close, don't you think? These were much smaller than the kind above -- half the size, maybe. Or two thirds, anyway.

Lamium. Lavender this time.

Columbine.

Oops. Forgot to look at the tag. Looking at it now, I am guessing cotoneaster. These flowers are small. Under half an inch across.

Closeup of lower right of above.

Potentilla.

Every single shot of the pink potentilla was blurry. Argh.
I decided that I liked the color and composition well enough to show it to you anyway. (Note that dried up last-year's whatever in upper left is nice and crisp. Sigh.)

I can almost SMELL them!! Our flower trees in town were SOOOO amazing this year.
x..x
It's been a good year for them here, too. All except the white dogwoods, which were kind of pathetic. (Wonder if they have some sort of pest or something......)
