Now I'm only six days behind!
Original:
With a bunch more layers added, clipped, blended. Whew!
The ability to mess with the nuances of the bevels, drop shadows, etc, is excellent!
Looking at the above, I thought it was a little odd with the text floating and the crabapples flat flat flat on the page.
So I cut them out, and gave them a bevel and a drop shaddow.........
Just because I can.
Now it looks funny because the berries are flat rather than rounded, when the twigs are looking kinda 3-D.....
Ah well.

Very, very cool! You're using Photoshop, right? Digital is awesome.
Thanks! I am learning a bunch of things I didn't know! :-)
I have Photoshop Elements (about a tenth the price of full Photoshop.....)
Digital IS awesome. :-)
I'm learning all KINDS of things from your latest posts...I have Photoshop but I've yet to play around with it. Looking forward to all your other Digital Magic!
If you decide you want to dig in, I highly recommend the classroom-in-a-books published by Adobe.
I used the one for Elements 3, many years ago, and learned all kinds of useful stuff.
Elements has TONS of capability. I've been using it for years, and am learning about so many new things in this class.....
This was a great photo to use for this project :-)

I just checked out your blog and really enjoyed your postings on the class. I think you have a great eye for photos. I'm really loving this class.
Thanks, Lennie.
I've been trying to find pics of mine that seem similar to the ones Marie has chosen. Flowers against blue sky. Or primary-colors-with-lots-of-contrast (the overlay/screen and b&w with a bit of color) one........
:-)
I am surely appreciating your contributions to the class!
I spent today painting and moving furniture and generally helping my daughter get her room the way she wants it -- but soon, soon, I'm going to go check out all the textures, etc, that you recommended.
Thanks, Joanne! What nice things to hear!
I want to go visit everyone's blogs and see what others are up to.
Soon, soon...... :-)
Your are creating up a Summer storm! Very lovely work Vicki! xo
You're too kind, Marie. :-)
It's your directions that deserve the praise ... I just followed your recipes......... :-)
So many things that I will play with more ... that whole blending thing with the gradient............
I had no idea in the world that photoshop would happily do that sort of stuff..........
:-)
I am learning a lot!!!
ooooooo.....I like it. I think this is one of those things that you have to come back to, and stand back and admire it anew. When you look too closely at your own photos, they all look terrible, don't they? Ok, at least mine do. I like yours :)
Thanks, Daisy. :-)
For me, looking at my pics, it depends. Some times I just know a pic is good. Something inside me rises saying "OH yeah!" :-)
Other times I think "ok, [next] ok, [next] ok........"
And sometimes I don't like any of it.
:-)
I take so many pics that I always have some I like better than the others (well, ALMOST always lol...).
I really try to have my pics be about letting my right brain out to play. I have a left-brained job, and tend to be a very left-brained person.
I believe it's good for me to let my right brain be in charge of things sometimes, so I try hard not to *think* about my pics too much.
The primary question is always "Do I like this better than that?"
Sort of like the eye doc, when he's flipping lenses on that machine to get my glasses prescription....
"A or B? B or A?" :-)
One thing I really like about the photoshop elements organizer is that I can go back and forth between pics by using the mouse wheel, and the switch is instantaneous. I can really see the differences between two pics, even if they were taken 1,2,3 right in a row (as is my usual custom, letting the camera get a real chance at focusing clearly, especially for things I think it might not get right the first time).
Or if I really don't care, I usually decide it doesn't matter.
And throw away two of the three.
I throw away at least a third of all the pics I take. Probably more like half, or even two thirds.
And then I post-process everything.
Essentially everything has been cropped, at least.
I hardly ever am happy with a pic straight-out-of-camera.....
That was way more than you wanted to know, I'm sure. :-) :-)
