Back to work.
A guy, driving a teeny weeny "steam shovel" across the street.
Oh dear.
Oh my.
They DID rip that whole giant planter off the front of the library.
For a humongous ramp.
Sheesh.
There was already a ramp, I will note, which had been there for decades.
Impossible to regard this as "improvement."
As a taxpayer and long-time library supporter, I want to know when there was public commentary on this.
I stopped and enjoyed the contents of that planter multiple times every week.
It wasn't paradise, but now it's been replaced by pavement.
Sheesh.
Sigh. I swear I am ready to flee this town. I am sure they are trashing everywhere else as fast as they can, too, but at least I wouldn't know what it had been like before, somewhere else............
Cleansing breath.
Clouds, out my office window.
Evening walk.
Tomatillos? in a neighbor's garden.
The big fat bee enjoying this purple stuff ducked behind as I took the pic. See it, pretty much in the center?

That is a teeny weeny "steam shovel" isn't it?! :) It is indeed a shame that beauty seems to be constantly replaced by pavement anymore. :( As always, enjoyed your flower photos. I keep thinking I should head over to our botanical gardens here in Albuquerque every time I read your blog. :)
It was! And narrow, too, which you can't tell at all from the pic. I don't think it would have held more than two ordinary hand-held shovels full of [whatever], if that.
Which made me wonder ... why?
Clearly it could dig a narrower trench than a person, and is stronger and doesn't tire.....
But still, I wondered......
The forces for building-on/paving-over are very strong around here, alas. So much to like about this town, but "they" are working as hard as they can to turn it into something much less pleasing, imh.
Sigh.
Thanks for the kind words. I loooooove botanical gardens. Always something to see that I've never seen before....... :-)
