Hair, hair, and more hair! The white hair around the edge of his (?) back is over a foot long. Hard to imagine that all this hair doesn't make him more vulnerable to predators.....
Colobus monkey.

This is one seriously large bird. A yard/meter tall, I bet.
A very little girl (barely one year old, I bet) prounounced it "ducky," which I thought was very clever of her. Not "doggy," not "kitty," not even "birdy".... When categorizing, for her to figure out it was a bird, but not a sparrow/robin/crow-type bird, but rather a bird with a long neck and a very big beak/bill..... Very clever.

Here's a case where the feathers are sharp in the pic despite the fencing. Click to embiggen if you'd like to get a better look.

Watching him eye the small kids in the crowd reminds me of a time when I saw a (caged) lynx stalking a small child just outside its enclosure......

One of my rare-on-the-day successes at documentation.

Gate out of the zoo into an apparently quiet and pleasant neighborhood.
If I lived next to the zoo, I would totally volunteer there................

Visiting the cousins.
All pics taken through plexiglas (you can see dark/light stripes down this first individual, an artifact of the plexi).

The boss.

So glad there is enough space for them to have a large family group outdoors.

See the third one, under the log, upper left?

There was a door into this wall that was being closely watched. I suspect it was getting close to supper time; any subordinate who stayed too close to the door was sent packing by higher-ranking individuals.
I am pleased with this image.
Both of these individuals were black, but the sunlight makes the dominant one silver. The one in shadow wanted to be in the doorway; the other one said "No way!"
Their body language is so close to our own. It's not hard to see the one in shadow is acquiescing to the rules put forth by the other.....

Pleased with a lot of these gorilla images.
Just to the right of the above, there is a drinking fountain in the wall.
Pleased that we can see the water spilling from her hand, pleased that it is so clear what is going on......
