The tattered remnants of a storm that dumped *a lot* of water on Chicago this morning.

We only got a few sprinkles.




Dusty miller. This always makes me think of fuzzy snowflakes.





Zinnia.





Hosta.

Canna.







Lingering over the hibiscus.

My camera often isn't really happy about taking pics of pinky red stuff.

On the 4th it was happy to focus on this hibiscus.













I believe hibiscus are the biggest flowers that grow outdoors in our climate. They are the size of dinner plates.

Yesterday, after we were done voting, we walked by a dark red one that had flowers even bigger than these. The flowers were kinda beat up, and I didn't like any of the images I caught, but the sheer magnitude of the flowers............
