Aug. 5

.

On the 5th, I got a ride as far as the bank, and walked the few blocks from there to work.

Petunias in front of the bank.

The Annarborsbad Cavern now eats the street.

Or at least requires that the street be blocked -- "until fall of 2011"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This makes using the library harder, using the post office nearly impossible, and woe to the small businesses on this block of Fifth Ave!

We'll be eating in those little restaurants more, to try to help them weather this potential catastrophe.........

Really wondering how this can be an enhancement to anything *I* like about this town.......

Ok.

Cleansing breath..........................................

I've mailed the water bill (one can still walk into the post office, but forget parking!), and am now walking to work along Fourth Ave, as this block of Fifth is impassable.

Phlox.

There is a patch of sunflowers between the street and the sidewalk on Packard.

They must self seed, or be planted by birds or squirrels; it's a "student ghetto" house, and yet there are sunflowers here year after year.

Love sunflowers........................

Early afternoon clouds.

The crispness of your photos never ceases to wow me. :) Hope you're having a good weekend.

What a nice thing to hear. :-) I think you have become my biggest fan. I surely look forward to your visits. :-)

It's all about the camera........

I point, it shoots.

:-)

I try to hold still........

And I do click off three (identical) shots of everything I look at, so the camera has a better chance to get a sharp one, and I have a choice. It's amazing, sometimes, how different those three may be from each other!

Weekend going ok; working on a large and stressful plan (*trying* to keep all tizzyness tamped WAY down.....), to be announced later.

Hope yours going well, likewise!!!

I do use the macro focus option for close-ups. It does way better for close-ups than with the "normal photo" setting.

So that's about the extent of my participation which results in sharpness. :-)

I picked Panasonics, I put them on "macro" for closeups, and I try to hold still.

:-)

Right back at ya! :) I'm still not so good at the macro thing though... I'm still working on it. What a good idea to snap three of everything... I hadn't thought of that.

Looking forward to hearing about this plan of yours. :)

Thanks. :-)

I don't know where I got that "take three tries at everything" idea.

Read it on someone's blog, I bet. :-)

If it's daylight and the pic is not a closeup and the subject is holding still, I may only take two.

If it's windy, and my shot is closer, I may take 7. Or more.

It's amazing, looking at them later, how different the camera's decisions can be, as to color, focus, etc. Two shots of the same cone flower, taken 1,2 -- the color can be notably different.

Or the exposure.

So I let the camera have several goes, and then I get to choose what I like best. (love, love, love digital, which allows all of this excess of shots, all for free......!!!!!!!!)

And I expect to throw away at least 2/3 of all the pics I take. Working on throwing away the boring ones, even if crisp. :-) :-)

Working on getting over some irrational anxiety; and may not talk about it too much ahead of time (this being the internet and all), but should it come together, there will be many posts. :-)
