Saturday errands.

Pittsfield branch of the library.

I thought I'd try for another shot of the line of white lamps. But the "line" was not the least bit straight.

So I got these three.

They are sitting on the stacks, and you can see the rounded ceiling, and the suspended lights, and the suspended ventilation........

There actually were people there, besides us, but not very many, for as many cars as there were in the parking lot......





Wibble and I walked earlier than usual. We've been going after 8:00 pm, when it's cooler but more mosquito-y.

On the 6th it was more like 5:00.

The sky got kinda dark, but nothing stormy happened.





From across the street, I've been assuming this was pumpkin vines.

Which are Very Large. Just a very few vines will eat up the entire length of one yard's space between the street and the sidewalk.

Seeing it up close ... well, I'm still concluding they are pumpkins, but ... usually pumpkins are green. Maybe these are the kind that end up white?

That young fruit is at least 6" long.

This wannabe fruit is probably nearly 2" long.

Portulaca.





Quince.





We looked at this several times, when it was blooming. (This from April 14.)





Here it is now.





I know that, in England, at least some people eat quince. Jane Brocket does.

Hers look seriously different from these.

Perhaps these are to hers as crab apples are to eating apples?





One of these is blushing. Maybe they get redder as they get ripe? I'd say the biggest are thinking about being 3" in diameter.
