September 7 -- the Louvre's courtyard

.

Here is the Louvre. We went through the central arch to the courtyard.

Well now.  Wonder what's going on!

We never did find out, though a desultory attempt was made (one person was asked, but the answer was incomprehensible).

The police, the fire department, and ... another group ... are all present here.

We don't know who these guys in the blue shirts are, but they have automatic weapons.

And a bunch of them are a band -- those on the right side of the square played instruments as part of the ceremony.

After the ceremony, a ceremonial pic.  With automatic weapons.

I bet the water is part of I.M. Pei's design, as the glass pyramids are included.

I quite like the pyramid.  Depending on the light, it either is transparent, or reflective.....

I liked the reflection in the water, here, as well as in the glass.

The Louvre is really Very Big...........

Transparent and reflective, depending.

I'd hoped we could go down below the pyramid and see it from there, too, but unfortunately the Louvre is closed on Tuesdays.  Ah well.  Yet another thing to do another time.........

We could peer through glass at this part of the collection.......

Ok.

Walking away from the Louvre, for the last time on this trip.

Another nice art nouveau Metro stop.

A closer look at the building at left, above.

An even closer look.

The above, poster-edged. I really like the blue and gold........

And you know I love this.  Hot pink and orangey red.  What could be better.

In order to facilitate chronological traverse of these posts, here is a link to the post that comes after this one.
