.
Another day with wind and clouds.
A visit to Lowe's resulted in the purchase of two pots full of varied plants.
Some of the plants didn't mind a bit of frost, but some (like coleus) were sad from being outside too long.
I don't know how they'll like being in my hot dry office, but at this price...................
Both of the ones I chose have yellow pansies.
One has pink petunias.
The other has coleus. (I pinched off all the most frost-bitten places, and these plants sat outside in comfortable temps for almost two weeks before moving into the office last weekend before the heavy frost.)

I have coleus that I bring into the house at the end of the summer. Mine last about 2 months before they get too leggy. Of course, I can control the temperature in the house and we keep it cool. I've never tried either petunias or pansies. I have a tuberous begonia (the kind with fancy leaves, not flowers) that I bring in each year. I've had this particular plant 4 years now. Good luck with yours!
My mom used to bring in coleus each fall. In the late winter, she'd root the ends of those leggy bits to start next year's plants.
Of course I have no control over the atmosphere in the office. :-)
I know pansies aren't fond of hot and dry.... We'll see what transpires.
The office has IMMENSE windows (8' tall? by 4' wide, more or less), which face just a bit west of south. There is another part of the building (unfortunately) blocking the southern exposure most of the day, though.
We'll see!
At that price, I couldn't resist trying. :-)
Thanks for the good thoughts for my new plants. :-)
I'll have to try rooting my coleus this year. A really nice one was nipped by frost before I got it in, so I threw it out. Darn.
Darn, indeed! So many cool ones, these days!!
They root easily in water, and I presume would be easy to root in damp potting medium, too.
I can remember my mom having them in water, but don't know if she has always done 'em in water first and then dirt, or................
She reads the blog but does not comment, or she could answer, herownself..... :-)
