Ann Arbor does a good job of planting trees. I am sorry to say that it does not do nearly as good a job of taking care of its trees.
Our street has red maples in the lawn extensions. Those are the city's trees.
They are old. They are in serious need of having the deadwood removed.
Mama Nature has her own way of removing deadwood.
This branch fell off "our" tree (that is, the city's tree that is in on the part of our property that the city has an easement on). The branch was blocking the end of our neighbors' driveway (the tree is very near the side of our property).
We picked it up.
Fungi and lichens.
I had no idea the fungus had this texture until I saw it on "the big screen."
Isn't this stuff cool-looking?
Wonder if this line is the result of a fungus, or what?
Then we walked the dog.
Trees and wires, upside down in the drips.
Some flowers, hanging on by the skin of their teeth.
Bradford pear.
Acorn caps and shards.
The rest of my party, having abandoned me to my acorn caps, is visible on the next block.
This one's for you, Dad.
So many interesting leaves............
Halloween in the past, the Rat House is now down to a mere two rats.
Have I mentioned it was very wet, on the 25th?
In the forties (f) and as wet as it could be without raining right down.
You can see the curved branch at the top in the drop.....
Spirea.
And then it was "over the river and through the fog, to grandmother's house (without the dog)"......
