February 25

.

I mentioned that the cardinals are guarding their territories. This one is in the serviceberry between our house and the southerly neighbors.

He's got his topknot straight up -- the better to look large and fierce, I bet.

It was a windy day. You can see how his feathers are blowing.

It was after 4:30 when Willard and I left for our walk.  The sun was still up high enough to be in our faces!

I liked the sun coming through the slats of the fence.

We had a lot of snow on the ground, on the 25th.

Ice, with hydrangea.

Sunset, reflected in downtown windows.

We've lived in this house since 1985, and only last year did I first notice that we can see the taller buildings downtown from here.  'Twas the same sort of late-winter-sunset light, last year, that helped me notice.

The tallest buildings are brightest, but reflections are visible all the way over near the left edge of this window.

Wouldn't this be an excellent view, if we were taller than the trees?

It would be.

I love the cardinals!!! Great shots. I bet you're right about him doing that to look large and fierce. :)

I love trees, but they do get in the way of the view!

The cardinals -- one of those "everything is relative" things.....

Or maybe it's one of those "outrun the bear" things.

They say you don't have to be able to outrun a bear; you just need to outrun the others who are with you.

If the cardinal guy is more large and fierce than the other cardinal boys........

:-)
