March 15, Kentucky Art and Craft Museum

.

Looking northeast at the Ohio.

See the barges full of what I think is coal, sliding by?

This is the hotel's other tower.  That's the work-out facility at the top, and the 3rd-floor gerbil tube connecting the two towers at lower right.

This is Fourth Street.  It goes downhill, between the two hotel towers, on down to River Road.  Which is River just now, right here, rather than road.....

Your first glimpse of the debris left behind as the river recedes......

Very similar to the first pic in this post, but here you can see the boat pushing the barges.

I'd hoped this glimpse of blue sky over the Aegon tower was a hint of things to come, but the 16th was gray and wet.

Looking west.

Like France, Louisville has at least some pedestrian-area-that-used-to-be-street.

Just south of the Aegon tower.

Bordeaux had its embellished cows; Louisville has horses and jockeys.

Both have fancy lights with color as part of the design.

Humana is a very large insurance company.  I am standing in the (covered) entryway to the building, looking up through a glass roof at the higher part of the building.

In Louisville, Humana is a big sponsor of the arts. This is right across the street from the Humana building

I visited the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft.

They had an exhibition of collections.

Drawn to this -- I, too, attract and accumulate the small stuff.......

Upstairs is a permanent collection of Kentucky art.

Love the shadows.....

"Medusa feels the vibe"..........

This makes me smile.  Love the crystals in the ends of the green "snakes".......

Of course there is more serious stuff, too.  I wanted to pet this.........

I love this giraffe.  Love its big ears, and its teeny feet.  Love the way the marks in the wood were used to show the giraffe's markings......

This, too, is carved from wood, but with a polar opposite style.  Every little feather bit has been carved and painted...........

I saw lots of wooden models of buildings, in various places in Louisville.

Looking out the front window of the museum of art and craft.......

Big red plastic penguins on an otherwise staid facade........

You can see the windows I took the prev. two shots through, middle top.

I like this shot because it shows the museum, as well as this beautiful alabaster bowl.

Walking farther west on Main, looking back toward the museum.

Love this glass-block facade, and look at the red doors!

In order to facilitate reading the Louisville posts in chronological order, I have put a link at the end of each post to the next one. The post after this one is here.
