The mandevilla outside Mark's Carts keeps blooming and blooming.

One year ago, on the 30th of August, I was in France.

I have been thinking about France; remembering France.  I had coffee (instead of my usual tea), at work, on the 30th.  I wore my French socks.  I have been re-reading my France posts.

Abandoned shoes are a more noticeable feature of the French urban landscape than the Ann Arbor one.

And yet.

Spotted on the driveway to a parking lot, on the 30th.......

Hibiscus.

It's hard to get clear pics of the red ends of the pistil(s?).  They are fuzzy, and the camera isn't fond of focusing on small fuzzy stuff.

This is the first time I've noticed that we can see chartreuse between the petals.

Seeds of some sort of grassy weed.
