Back at the farmers' market. We still wanted honey, and broccoli....
Corn, and bird-house gourds.
This is field corn. It becomes cornmeal and polenta, rather than being eaten fresh. Most of it is turned into animal food. I expect these are being sold as treats for squirrels.
I've never seen bird-house gourds growing, but I bet they are an excellent sight.
Pumpkins. I don't remember seeing the kind with the yellow and green stripes, before.
These, also, would be an excellent sight, growing. Pumpkin plants are huge, with huge leaves and huge flowers -- a fitting backdrop to their huge fruits.....
Leaves and roots.
Mizuni (I should look that up....), beets, carrots.
Tomatoes, brussels sprouts, beans, peppers.
I spent the last three dollars in my billfold here, on broccoli. My billfold had no bills, rendering it a plain "fold," we decided.
Apples, apples, everywhere, on the 1st.
Turban squash, and gourds. I don't know what kind of gourds they are, but if I grew them, I'd call them shmoo gourds.
Sunflower seeds, in their natal habitat.
Extremely close crop of the above.
"Indian corn." That's what we called it when I was a kid; not sure what is the acceptable term nowadays.
It is grown for pretty, rather than for consumption. As far as I know, it is edible. I bet it is field corn (like the yellow at the top of this post), rather than sweet corn, and would make better cornmeal than fresh eating.
It is prettiest when young and full of moisture, like these ears. As the ears dry, they get the same dents in each kernel you can see in the yellow ones. One kernel below is beginning to get its dent. Once they're dry, they're no longer shiny and translucent.
I like the faint striping.....
Walking back to the car, parked a few blocks away on the street where my old house is.
Maple memories.
Mums.
Snapdragons.

*sigh*
Leonard said he'd be perfectly fine with some of that field corn. (Oh dear, he's been raiding the sunflower seed stash in our garage every chance he gets.)
Love the close up of the sunflower seeds.
And the colors of the Indian corn? Wow!
I tried and tried, last year, to get a decent pic of sunflower seeds, but for some reason I was never successful. (Had the "normal focus" set rather than the "macro focus," perhaps....)
I was please this was as sharp as it was. :-)
Loooove the Indian corn, when it's in this fresh state. :-) The translucence, the colors.......
I saw a chipmunk go into our open garage this morning. Uh oh..... I mean that we should have nothing in there that is attractive, but.....
I bet you have thought of a metal garbage can for the sunflower seeds.
Nature so nice at a proper distance, but when it starts eating your sunflower seeds and making a mess in your garage, not so cute any more.....
