October 8 -- morning

.

Another perfectly gorgeous day. On the 1st, we wore winter coats to the market. The 8th was another shirt-sleeve day.

I asked the vendor what this was, and the answer went in one ear and out the other.  Ebony Something.  Flybane?  I don't know.  Alas.

Excellent pods, yes?

You can just barely see the Ebony pod stuff, at right.  Same vendor.  She has a lot of cool things!

Gourds.

Pumpkins.  My hands want to cradle those perfect orange globes....

This has a basily look.....  The sign said something like Red & Green herb, I think....  The tops of the leaves are green, and the bottoms are red.

Bouquets.

COLOR!!!

Zinnias, sunflowers, snapdragons, in the strong slanted morning light.

More red & yellow stuff, with green and just a hint of purple (eggplant at left).  Peppers, peppers, peppers, and tomatoes.

Wow, yes?  The tag said this is a rhododendron, and showed a slightly-purply pink flower.

Maple, next to the market.

Don't you love this kid?  All decked out, ready for the game, playing for all of us?   Love that he's standing there with two bushels of greens....

Don't miss the spats....

His weren't the only feet I noticed.

I *want* these!  Not that my persnickety feet would be happy, I'm sure, but, well, goodness, what perfect colors.........

Apples, apples, apples.

Russetts!!!  I'd been looking for these!  Heirloom apples.  I went to an heirloom-apple tasting at Zingerman's, several years ago, and these were one of my favorites.  Of all the old varieties we tasted that night, russets are the most readily-available, at least around here.

I'd had my eye out for some, but hadn't seen any until the 8th.  I'd seen lots of pears that were this sort of color, but no apples.

I like them!

Wow again -- look at these monster dahlias!  I don't think I've ever seen such big ones!

Walking back to the car -- burning bush.

Here's something else I'd never seen before -- all that fuzz!  I'd never seen a feather with so much fluff, that had such a definite spine (what *do* you call that center stiff part of a feather?), with a "regular feather" tip.   Cool.

I also like the sort of aqua sidewalk behind my pink-ish hand, with the gray.
