April 3

.

In the morning, my parents and I went to the Nermer Museum, at Johnson County Community College. It's quite a large and spacious museum.

Unfortunately essentially everything that was displayed was of the "I am Art; and All the More Artful Because You Can't Tell Why I am in a Museum!" sort. Messy, pointless, and, in the end, dull.

So I looked for interesting things.

Bench.  Or -- let's call it ... Value Study I.

Value Study II.

Aside from the shapes, I love the colors in the edges of the glass.

This very RED wall was being patched in preparation for being painted white (to match the other walls in the space!).

I wondered what had been in that room, benefiting from the RED, and requiring so many holes in the wall.

I thought this room was as least as likely to be Art as the stuff that was being deliberately displayed.......

The painter was there, working, and I felt sure that a series of Still photos of his Work would be a Significant Commentary on the Transitory Nature of Everything............

But I wandered on, instead of taking more and more pics.

The view out a gallery window.  At least as Artful as what was displayed in the gallery.

Let's call it ... Hazy Kansas Morning.

Fringey tulip outside the museum.

Kansas clouds.

I was delivered to the airport (thanks for everything!) in plenty of time for my flight home.

Many interesting clouds, between MCI and DTW.....

It's hard to take decent pics from an airplane.  Three layers of plexiglas, two of them often significantly scratched, do not make a good beginning, and then there is usually haze.  Clouds frequently offer significant interest, but given the scratchy windows, and the low value contrast, they can be hard to capture.

Here we are looking at a stripe of lighter space, with bumpy cloud tops, which contrasts with darker flatter clouds (and the ground is actually sort of visible, too).

Zoomed in on the bumpy clouds mentioned above.

Wow!  Lots of interest above the horizon, and rippledy clouds below it..........

I hope you will click on the next pic, to see a bigger version and more detail......

One of the things I love about flying is all the things I get to see that I could never see from the ground............

Almost home.
