March 30 -- Nelson, part 4

.

Chinese decorative objects.

You can tell this is small, from the size of the threads in the fabric.

Tang Dynasty (618-906 C.E.), silver gilt.

Small, but not as small as the box.

Tang Dynasty (618-906 C.E.), cast and beaten silver.

A table leg from Jincun, Henan Province.  Warring States period, 477-221 B.C.E.

The name of this glaze is "tea dust."  Yongzhen period, 1723-1735.

Slices of stone, depicting the seasons.  I didn't keep track, but I bet this one is Winter.

Qing Dynasty, 18th century.  Yunnan province.

Another Guanyin.  This one is quite small (compared to the ones I showed you yesterday).  Less than a foot tall, if I remember correctly.  I suspect this was devotional, as well as decorative.

We actually know who made this one!  He Chaozong, "active 1665-1695."  Porcelain.

Porcelain "famille verte" plate.  Kangxi era (1662-1722), Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).

Glazed porcelain.  Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).
