Thistle. There's a lot going on, with thistles..... Here is a spent flower about to open and release seeds, along with some older flowers that have already let go of their seeds, and a whole bunch of seeds-with-wings.........
What remains of flowers who have sent their seeds into the wind, with one seed pretty much in the middle, and one bud at left.
Unfortunately this is blurry, but here's what the flowers look like, sort of.
I was aiming at the seeds at the lower left, but the camera chose to focus on the plant. I didn't think of capturing the whole plant, so I'm glad for this image.....
Seed closeup. I knew it had those long white hair-like "wings," but had no idea about the perpendicular fibers sticking out of the sides of the "wings"......... Cool. (As always, click on any image to embiggen.)

More thistles, somewhere else. These are different. I was taken by the spiky globular bud.....
