Exiting the museum from the west exit; waiting for the Phlash trolley/bus.
That tall skinny tree looks Chinese, somehow..... Note Schuylkill River, barely visible in the lower left quadrant.
There's a very nice park, along the Schuylkill, just here.
The art museum's grounds, and the surrounding park(s?) are popular locations for weddings. I hadn't noticed, until I saw this pic on "the big screen," but there's a wedding party near the bottom of this image. You can see her white dress, inside the railing, near the closer end of the water-going-over-the-edge.
Here's another wedding, getting ready to happen. They are waiting for their turn at the area above, I think. I am enjoying the abstraction I imposed on this image.....
I call it "Incipient Fuchsia Wedding, with Tourists."
That's the same skinny tree as in the first image in this post, taken to the southwest, of the previous position.
This is looking back in the direction of the museum (east), from a vantage point south of the museum. I'm not generally fond of people in my pics, but I like having that woman's peachy shirt. The river is to the right of this image.
A zoomed shot, more or less the center of the shot of the river, above. This is looking west. I saw, on "the big screen," that there are a lot of rowing sculls racked up in this location.
Love the color of these trumpets. Look at the interesting shapes left on the stem after the flowers fall off.....
Looking back at the museum.
The columns look Egyptian, to me.
The green bronze makes me think of China.
And now for something completely different.
I noticed a tree branch behaving oddly. Bending toward the ground. I zoomed in, and found this individual, pulling the branch down, chowing down on the leaves. Who knew that groundhogs share a taste for mulberry leaves with silk worms!
Gardens right behind the museum.
Another wedding.
This is my favorite part of the previous image. Love the round bouquet, love the folds, especially what happens because she is holding her skirt up.....
One last look at the museum.
I went back to the hotel, and had my customary lie down and rehydration session.
We hoped to eat at a highly-rated Greek restaurant, but when we got there we discovered a long wait. We wandered around, looked at menus, and ate somewhere else.
There are a lot of murals, in Philadelphia. They have made interesting use of the blank wall, here, I think.
I like all the details here. The pointy thing at the top, the bow window, the shells over the doors.....
