Our power was out from 5:36 am to about 10:30 am.
At about 9:30 am, we had a cherry-picker convention.
Hard to see how quite that many trucks/crews were needed, but there they were. All of the trucks were electricity-company trucks, except this green one at right. It was a tree-company truck.....
I was told that a branch had fallen on a wire, and that branches falling out of trees, when there was no storm, and no wind, was happening fairly frequently this summer. The man who told me so speculated that it was due to weather stress...........
There is a sharp drop in the land, from our level, down to the next street north of our property. I think the tree with the broken branch was growing on that slope, and was hard to get to...........
Our power seems to be going out more and more often, not during storms, and not on particularly hot days (when one could imagine there was too much demand).
This is not a good trend. When we are looking for good ways to spend public money, the infrastructure of our country, including the power grid, would be excellent things for us to invest in.
