a bit of 'shopping

.

Playing with blending modes.  If you have multiple layers, you can tell Photoshop Elements to look at the pixels in one spot on one layer, and the pixels in the same spot on another layer, and make them interact.  I don't know what the different names of the blending modes mean are actually going on when they blend, but sometimes I like the effects.

This is an image of the bumps on one of the fancy-schmancy curb cuts they are putting in everywhere.  The reddish paint is all gone, so all we see is the bumpeldy concrete.

Some bug-eaten(?) hydrangea.

If you put a layer of bumpy concrete over a hydrangea, and then choose the "color burn" blending mode, you get this.  It's pretty dark, but I kinda like it.

Here's a pic of part of downtown Grand Rapids.

With concrete bumps, and "soft light" blend.

Here we have the "overlay" blend.

And finally, the "difference" blend.

When I think about doing digital collage, I imagine making images with textures that I might use for backgrounds or.........

It's interesting to play with the tools at hand, to see what the results may be......
