September 8

.

On the 8th, our daughter was off to Sicily for a week.  For work.  !!!

We'd gotten a lovely amount of rain, overnight.  A steady rain, which, I hope, soaked in rather than running off into the river.

At 7:30 am, when we headed for the airport, it was not raining.  The clouds were layered.....

Approaching Delta's terminal from the south.

Lots of planes apparently spent the night in Detroit.  (Note layers of clouds, all the way down to the horizon.)

On the way home, it seemed like it might clear up.  Or maybe not.....

We stopped at the farmers' market.  Peppers and more peppers.

Squash and tomatoes.

Flowers!!!  Zinnias and goldenrod, mostly.

Heirloom tomatoes.  Taste matters more than looks.....  Wouldn't it be nice if we paid more attention to other things than appearance, all the time?  The world would be a better place, I am sure of it.

Squash.  Very much looking forward to baked butternut squash, when the weather is cold enough to imagine running the oven!

More peppers.

Radishes.  The camera and I are in perfect accord as to their color.

Later.  Walking.

Phlox.

They'd said we might get rain during the day, but no.  It was a gorgeous day.  High in the 70s, nice crisp dry air.......
