October 18

.

The 18th was one of those days when it rains, clears up, clouds up, clears up.....

I wish I could share the smell of these wet leaves.........  The essence of autumn.......

Excellent skies.........  And the little red maple tree we've been enjoying.

Chrysanthemum.

Sweet alyssum, still smelling like honey.....

Someone likes to make these; this yard has several of them.

The winds aloft were moving right along......

Leaves in the gutter.

Memories of maple leaves past.

The phlox is battered, but still blooming.

Lichens on a big piece of bark.

Me and Wilbur (you can just see his head, as he began to walk up into the pic), almost home.....

While we were out, it got quite dark, and blew significantly.  I wondered if we would get drenched.  Hurrying home is not an option.  I suppose I could pick him up, if I had to, but I couldn't hurry very much while carrying him, and don't know how far I could carry him, when we are blocks from home.....

It sprinkled on us, but did not really rain, and as we got close to home, the sun came out in patches.....

Siberian elm.  I like the jiggedy jags.

Maple.  This one has as much value (light/dark) contrast as any I've seen (ignoring the ones that have big black fungus spots on them!).

Another leafy twig that I bet was cut by that same squirrel, taped to my refrigerator door.

Love the green, the yellow, and the orange tips........

And the shadows.....

Back outside again.  Leaves in the gutter.

The back of a maple leaf.
