I am picking up all sorts of bits and pieces from the content in Model Thinking.
One of them is that humans have biases that stop us from making purely rational decisions about things.
One well-studied bias is the Status Quo Bias. We are more likely to keep doing the same thing than to stop and do something different.
I find this to be true at most times during my day. I'd rather keep reading my novel, or keep messing around on the computer, say, if that's what I'm doing, than put down what I'm doing and do the other of those two things. Let alone put it down and do something icky, like lift weights..............
This isn't exactly news to me, but it's interesting to learn that it's a known and studied issue in human behavior.
