December 20

.

A very wet day.

It rained, off and on, all day.  Part of the time it rained hard.

On the 20th, I went downtown to have lunch with an old friend.  Patty and I have known each other since the early 1970s.  It was fun to get together.  Much laughter.....

The ISR building, getting a fourth wing.

When I got home from lunch, it was barely raining.  I seized the time, and was able to walk me, and the dog, in the only hour when it was not actively precipitating.

There are places in my neighborhood where they have sliced the edges of the sidewalk squares, to cut off lifted parts so it's harder for people to trip.  This is one such place.  The different colors of the pebbles in the concrete are visible when it's dry, and even more so, when it's wet.

It's amazing to me, how random rocks that no one deliberately chose -- "throw away" rocks, which just got mixed up into concrete -- are so variable!  Different colors, different kinds of rock......  If someone had tried to pick a lot of different kinds, I don't know that they'd have found more variety!  I wonder if this is because glaciers have dumped a lot of rock here......

Reflection on the sidewalk.

I have a neat leaf in a neat rock puddle that I keep thinking I need to take a picture of for you... Sigh.

Merry Christmas!
