January 26 -- food and more food

.

After a few pics of snow-on-the-patio, it was time to visit the deli for bread and butter.

I always see something I've never seen before.  Oregano?  Really?  Wow.  I've always thought it's a member of the mint family, but this -- this doesn't look like any mint I know....  The more I think about this, the more curious I am.........

Art supply stores always make me want "One of each, please."

I feel the same way here.  "One of each, please."

This is an Ann Arbor company.

Love the curves.....

Hooray for American cheese, and for American cheese makers!

I always collect (pics of) appealing packaging, at Zingerman's, and what could be cuter than this?  Little individual baskets, with checked paper, and an interesting and compelling label?

We have some of these, but not as many as we used to have.  This is delicious.......

More interesting pasta.

Mmmmmmmmm.........................

Yum yum.

Do you ever eat red lentils (which are actually a sort of neon orange)? I LOVE them.

Nice pics!

Indeed. :-)

I think I've had the red ones in Indian food, but I don't think I've cooked with them. Do you have a favorite recipe? I love beans and lentils..........

Thanks!

Below is one I especially love--I doubled the recipe when I was in St. Louis and fed a crowd. The only thing I change is adding cracked red chili peppers. Yum Yum.

I love this site--Oh She Glows--I've made many of her dishes (I'm vegetarian, not vegan, but I love love love her food):

Spiced Red Lentil, Tomato, and Kale Soup: http://ohsheglows.com/2012/11/07/spiced-red-lentil-tomato-and-kale-soup/

I paired it with this--Fall Detox Salad: http://ohsheglows.com/2012/11/05/fall-detox-salad-hurricane-sandy-fundraiser-update/

Happy eating!

Jennifer
