We are in Italy!!!!!!!!!!
Pretty weird!
Our transfer went
as smoothly as it could have. My seat-mate was a charming 21-yr-old and my daughter didn't have one at all. We both got some sleep. Customs was
no problem. We easily got tickets for, and found the boat that brought us from the airport to
right near our apt. The person who owns the apt met us a few minutes
early, and showed us to the apt (which is very close to where the boat
let us off -- all the better for not beating suitcase wheels to death on
paving stones!). The apt is as cute as it can be. One side looks out
at a canal, and the other side looks down the canal to the lagoon. It
is excellent to have separate rooms for sleeping and living and eating,
not to mention having a kitchen sink, fridge, and microwave........
We spent a little time shopping (yogurt, bread, pastries, postcards -- the necessities), and a lot of time wandering.
We're
really in Italy! There's nowhere like this in the USA, I'm sure of
it.......... We have video, with audio, of the bells of Saint Mark's,
in the rainy dusk.....................
At this point we are whipped, and about ready to go to bed (after we plug in all the various devices that need to get charged!)
Just wanted to let you know that all is well.
(The
one thing our apt person forgot to tell us was where the cord was for
the wifi thingie, but email to and from solved that problem.)
We had mediocre pizza for dinner (too tired to look for anything fancy), followed by excellent pastry..
Time to brush my teeth and go to bed!
Note -- time in Italy is five hours ahead of Eastern Daylight, but daylight savings starts here on Sunday, and then it will be six hours difference.
