April 10 -- the end of our visit with the olive oil producer

.

As we prepared to leave the castle, we asked to use the facilities.

I believe this is the most amazingly decorated bathroom I've ever seen.

This trompe l'oiel balustrade was painted all around the bottom of the walls.

Tile floor.

Hand-decorated sink.

Tiny window overlooking the Tuscan countryside.

Those look like grape leaves.  If they are, they are the only ones I saw on this trip.

The door latch.....

Leaving the castle.  The chapel, with very old olive trees.  These are, by far, the biggest olive trees we saw.

Looking at the gate which guards the entrance to the complex.  We'll be leaving through it in a few minutes.  The buildings which are barely visible on the right house the stainless steel tanks in which the grape juice begins its transition to being wine, and "regular barrel-sized" barrels of aging vin santo.

Looking back at the castle. I bet there is a staircase in the round tower.....

And -- what's that in the grass?

A robot lawnmower, that's what.  It was buzzing around, back and forth, randomly across this terrace.  I'd idly noticed, when we walked on that terrace when we arrived, that the mowing looked haphazard.  Now I knew why.....

We were told that one time when they were pumping wine between a barrel in the cellar under the castle and the building across the driveway, the mower had run over the flexible pipe through which the wine flowed.  There was a wine everywhere, for a while.....

This is one of the old stones than used to be used for pressing the olive oil.

Now we are on the other side of the gate.  Taking one last look at the view from here.

One last look at these olive trees.

We saw smoke in a lot of places.  We never did find out what they were burning (or even if it was the same thing that was being burned in different places).

Heading for our agritourismo.  It was very close to the castle.....
