The ceiling in Casa Nuova's dining room, all hand-painted.
Breakfast! Yogurt, delicious apricot jam, apples, butter.
Home-made bread, home-made pastry.
I'd never seen a sugar container like this.
Spelt "coffee"....
A closeup of the flowers in our bedroom.
There were two original paintings in our bathroom.
We bid our hosts adieu. We loved staying with them. If you find yourselves in Emilia, with a car, do go stay at Casa Nuova. You'll be glad you did!
Even if there is still snow on the ground, in April.
Even if the clouds are moving across the vineyard.
Pulling ourselves away, we drive toward our next appointment.
See the clouds, between us and the next peak?
Hmm. I bet these are some of the many road-fixing guys....
Here is one of those washed-out road, mended cracks.
And here are two more.
So green..... And -- more clouds between us and the next hill top.
Crossing the river.
I am not sure if we crossed back and forth over the same river a lot of times, or if all the rivers in this area look the same -- the riverbed so broad, and all gravel..... This water does appear to be rushing downstream, doesn't it.
There are detriments to not having a big paper map! Seeing only a phone-screen's worth of map at a time is not the same as having the whole picture on a big piece of paper, so you can see how the different pieces of your trip all fit together. I also missed having the rivers labeled, so I knew their names.
