I've just signed up for another class through Coursera -- Archaeology's Dirty Little Secrets.
While I wasn't very happy, over all, with the last Coursera class I took, I was pleased, when faced with totally unreasonable arguments in my everyday life, to recognize a straw man when presented with one. I didn't know what a straw man was, before I took Think Again..... Knowing what it was gave me the perfect ammunition against it -- I exposed it for what it was............. "Hey -- X is a straw man! No one here has proposed X, and no one here *would* propose X. Let's not even talk about X -- it is utterly irrelevant to our discussion. Let's stick to the point."
Hah!
We'll see what I learn about archeology!
(The class starts next week -- when I will be done, at last, blogging Italy. I have really enjoyed working on the pics, and writing about what we did, and learning more about where we were, and what the names of things were, and where things were in relationship to other things, and loved seeing all the things in the pics that I didn't see when I was there in person, but it has been a huge effort. I'll be glad to do something else for a while.)

Good luck with the class! I remember blogging my Europe trip last year -- I swear, my trip that ended in May was still going on in July! (Which was actually fine, because I was participating in the Paris in July blog gig!) It was tons of fun to go through the photos and write about it, but I was almost sort of relieved when I finished! Took a lot of work!
I've loved your Italy trip -- I know I've missed a few posts because my computer time is limited lately with vision issues/headaches from the shingles. But I've loved all I've seen and am looking forward to a few more!
Thanks! We'll see -- if I don't like the class, I can always drop..... :-)
Yes, you've nailed it -- tons of work, tons of fun, and I'm relieved to be finished. It was intense, and I'm glad to do something else for a while!
I'm so glad you have come along to Italy!
I have tried to link the posts, one to the next, so it's possible to go through them in order. (The top-down blog format isn't the easiest to follow, with a long series of posts that really come in a particular order. Especially when I write while I'm gone, and then interleave posts with a lot more detail -- and pics! -- later.....
I'm so sorry you've had to (and still have to) deal with shingles! I was horrified to hear (in a tv commercial, so maybe not true?) that one in three people will suffer with shingles at some point. If so many have that issue, why have we not heard more?
In any case, I am glad that you have spent some of your ok-to-read time with me, and I hope you are more and more able to read comfortably, asap!
