caudofemoralis -- yet another dino fact that was completely new to me...

.

In Dino class they are encouraging us to draw, as a way to hone looking.

Here's an example of a drawing that helps convey the size and strength of the caudofemoralis muscle in a T. rex.  In the lecture video, they had a model skeleton of T. rex, with a modeling-clay muscle.  A pretty graphic way of showing how big that muscle was!

They told us that the caudofemoralis was the most important muscle for walking and running in dinos.  It exerts a *powerful* backward pull on the femur!
