September 3

.

Excellent leaf, on busy pavement.

As I walk, I walk across sidewalk squares from many different years.  Some have a lot of coarse gravel at the surface.

Some don't have coarse stuff on the surface.  (This square is relatively new; who knows what it will look like in several decades!)

I wondered about photographing the leaf on that busy surface, above.

It does show up better on this surface, I think.  But I kind of like the interaction between the leaf and the surface, above.....

I took the above while walking the dog.  We don't usually walk first thing in the morning, but then he doesn't usually puke intermittently all night long (9:30 pm, 12:00 am, 4:00 am).....  I mopped up after him at 4:00 with a small towel, which I threw in the tub.   In the morning I read that the vet might like a sample, so I got a plastic bag and spread out the towel.

It was then I realized that there was a good-size piece of "paper product" in there.  I know he likes to eat kleenex, and napkins, and stuff like that.  We let him eat shreds of kleenex, but I don't mean for him to be eating whole napkins.............

I was very glad to see whatever that was -- I was pretty sure after seeing it that it was the cause of his issues.

I'd read online that if there was still food in the upchuck after six or eight hours, the issue was in the stomach.  Either a bothersome/blocking object, or a problem with the stomach functioning as it should to pass things along to the intestines.

I wanted to take him to the vet, anyway, just to see if she agreed with me, and to get directions on what to do about food/water, as I'd read that both should be withheld for 24 hours (which seems like a LONG time to withhold water!)

She did agree that the paper product was a likely source of the problem, and couldn't find anything wrong with him.  Throughout the ordeal he was bright and lively.  Not acting sick or depressed at all.  (I don't think it was an ordeal for him.  Just for me...........)

So we came home with some food that is designed to be extra easy on the gut, and directions for getting him back to normal on food and water (she had me restrict water for yesterday, but not deny it entirely).

I believe we dodged another bullet....................................

Driving home from the vet.  Interesting clouds...............

Late afternoon.  Walking just me.  Here is the lawn extension with the pumpkins growing....

They are getting more and more orange.

This biggest one was still more yellow.  I wonder if it will get more and more orange....
