I think this is my first gone-to-seed dandelion of 2013.
Looking closer.
Oh my! Look what appears "on the big screen"!!! I've never seen this before! Who knew all of those wisps were twisted of multiple fibers! Now I want a microscope...............
Another October day, another excellent autumn leaf.
Another walk with the dog.
Maple leaf, with prints left on the sidewalk by many of her sisters.

Vicki, this is an especially beautiful post -- I love the leaf and leaf prints, but I'm fascinated by all those twists!
Thanks!
I went googling for microscope dandelion seed after I wrote the post, and *of course* people have not only taken pics through microscopes, they've posted them!
It turns out the parachute fibers aren't twisted after all -- they have spikes! Not perpendicular to the main thread, but pointed toward the end of that thread.... I'm a little disappointed -- I was charmed by the idea that they were plied......
I haven't gone back and updated the post -- my better half has been working at home, and the other computer doesn't seem to understand letting me be signed in to email AND my blog, so getting at the blog has been more annoying than usual, for the last several days.............
