Here's a really interesting article, about helping doctors assess how well patients will do, during and after surgery, and about teaching patients what they can do, before and after surgery, to improve their condition and their likelihood of doing well during and after surgery.
One of those ideas that seem obvious after I've heard about it, but which never occurred to me before I read the article!
