July 23

.

Walking home after yoga.  West Park.  This is the first time I'd seen one of the mama ducks taking her babies out of the water.

Baby ducks are very capable, compared to many baby birds.  They can feed themselves, right from the get go, and they preen themselves, too (to keep themselves water resistant).

She took them pretty far away from the water, for vulnerable baby ducks that can't fly....

Ducks and shadows.

I think these are the two teenager ducks who were born earlier this year.

This is the other family of young babies.  I think there were 17 small babies, as well as the two "teenagers" on the 23rd.

Look at all the goldfish!

I counted over 70 in this picture, and there were at least three or four other places where there were this many fish visible.  I'm guessing there are thousands of fish in this not-very-big pond.

Um.  Purple stuff.

Walnut stains on a sloping sidewalk.  This would make a great fabric design, in my humble.
