September 23

.

Maple leaf, on concrete.

Since I only had one pic for the 23rd, I decided to play with filters.

This is "colored pencil," and is the first time I've ever liked the result I got from this filter.  I feel that I ought to like it, and I've messed with the settings before, and I've never liked it.

This is as close as I've come to liking what I've gotten from "colored pencil."

Good old "poster edges."  I think "poster edges" works well for leaves, often, and I love what it does with concrete.........

Closeup of upper left corner.  Love this....

Another close up, not as close as the prev.........

Well!  This is "stamp."  I kinda like it.

"Torn edges."

!!!  I have no idea how I got this.  I decided to make the image smaller by 1/4,and run back through the filters to see how they looked different on a smaller number of pixels.

I thought I asked for "colored pencil," and I thought I was working on the image at the top of this post.

I was very surprised to see the above...............  I still don't know how it happened.  Sometimes I think when I make a whole bunch of images with different filters, Photoshop Elements may get a bit confused.  I have no idea what it thought it was doing, which is kind of too bad, as I've never seen it do this before, and who knows when I might wish to get it to do this again.

Ah well.  A mystery.

"Glowing edges."  Note to self -- this is much more interesting to me that what I got when I tried "glowing edges" on the full-size image.

"Ink outlines."  Another filter that I've only very rarely been happy with.

"Water paper."   I'm not sure what "water paper" is supposed to be, but I rather like the cross-hatchy background, though I'm not convinced I'm happy with the blurriness.

Hooray for toys!

Very nice work with the filters. There are a lot of the finished pieces I like. But I'm not too ready for the fall leaves -- even though I've posted about them and they are wonderful subjects!

Thanks!

Usually at this time of year I am SO TIRED of being TOO HOT that I am longing for cold weather.

This summer has been so nice that I'm not as eager to let it go............
