On the 4th we did our walking at Lowe's. At the mall, there were a noticeable number of other people who, like us, were walking (not shopping). At Lowe's, I don't believe this was true. I didn't see one other person I thought was "just walking."
Not that we were "just" walking -- we shopped after we got in our mile.
As at the mall, we smelled many things we wished we hadn't smelled, but they were "outgassing carpet" type smells, rather than "too much perfume" type smells. Lowe's is quieter, I think....
All in all I'd much rather walk outside, but the 4th was wet and cold, and I'm babying my lungs. Having choices is excellent, and I'm glad to have dry places with safe footing so I can walk without thinking about each step!
After we walked, we chose a cheap(ish) kitchen faucet and a new garbage disposal.
We really ought to gut the kitchen and start over. But. Yikes. What a horrid thought. !!!!!!!!
It made me very happy, several weeks ago, when I realized we could stop the drip in the kitchen sink with a new faucet, and if that were a cheap faucet, we could move in a forward direction without doing EVERYTHING. Yay. We took one step further, in a weird and Different direction, and got a one-handle faucet. I've never had one, and don't know how I feel about them. This way we can try it, and if I hate it, when we buy another faucet (if we ever actually have the kitchen redone!), we can get a two-handle faucet then. I'm not sure I'm going to care. I want hot, cold, and something in between. I don't think I care about finer distinctions in the mid-range. We'll see.
As for the garbage disposal, I would like to help you avoid our mistakes -- you really CANNOT put glasses down garbage disposals. We've put a "cafeteria glass" down each of two garbage disposals, and killed them both dead. I have learned that we must keep a strainer in the drain above the disposal at all times.
A "do not leave glasses in the garbage disposal's sink" rule does not work at our house. Your mileage may vary. We got a cheap garbage disposal, too. We don't care how quiet it is, and we're not going to grind up bones, so.....
Now I can schedule the plumber. O joy.
Sigh. If I were a better person, this sort of progress would make me happy. As it is, fighting entropy just leaves me feeling oppressed. Something to add to my self-improvement list, no doubt.
After we got home, the rain turned to snow. Better snow than ice!
This is as much snow as we've had, this year. It's supposed to be pretty cold for the forseeable. Highs around 20 (F) and lows between 10 and zero............................ I'm making a mental list of warm and dry places to walk!
I'm glad I don't have to take an elderly dog out for walks. Especially as we STILL have no fence, ever since our neighbors took out the fence on their side when they demolished their old garage. They have a new garage, now, but ... there is no fence where there used to be fence. Not infuriating, as it would be if we still had a dog, but still ... annoying. Sigh.

There are few things that are a relief when you no longer have your dear Bert. Walking outdoors in this winter weather is probably one of them. But I know he leaves big spaces in your heart.
It's good to finally get caught up on your blog! (Yes, I DO look at the notifications that come in the mail but don't always comment!) Getting back in gear!
Yes, walking outside with him in this weather is definitely one of them -- especially with the lack of fence, which would necessitate suiting up and *going out with him* Every. Single. Time. He. Went. Out.
We got a fenced yard deliberately, and being able to open the door and let the dog(s) out by themselves was a major reason for this.
I am trying not to be aggravated about the missing fence, since this particular reason to want a fence doesn't apply any more.
It would be easier for me not to be aggravated if the neighbors had apologized to me since it became clear the fence would not be replaced before spring! But no, they just avoid eye contact and never come outside when I'm out. Sheesh.
