January 5

.

Afternoon sun, on a mostly-overcast day.

The KMart nearest us is closing.  I thought we might walk there, but it was too creepy.  It's been creepy for a while (like years) -- emptier and emptier, and with fewer and fewer of the things we tried to buy there.

On the 5th it was seriously creepy.  Big completely empty areas (some blocked to our access), and tons of old dead racks and so on..........

Another end of an era -- I remember when they built this store, in the mid 1960s............  We were shocked to see how small this store is, empty (or nearly so).  Way smaller than Lowe's.  WAY smaller.  We wonder what will take up this space next.

We left, and decided to go visit the grocery we patronize when we are filling up on cereal and other bulky stuff.  It was lively and full of stuff and people.  Not creepy.

Unfortunately, we didn't have our grocery list.  We managed to buy about four of the 10-12 things on the list.  But we got all the stuff that doesn't actually make it onto the list.  The "all the time" stuff.  Like cereal.

And we got our walk in.  One trip around the inside perimeter at Meijer's is over a quarter of a mile, we are pretty sure.  So we make three loops, when we're walking there, and then start shopping.

You walk where you walk and if Meijer is it, so be it! Not as attractive as a lovely spring day but a lot warmer!

Yep. And with no ice underfoot! :-)
