.
The 5th was another frosty morning.
They came back for what was left of the two old maples up the street.
The picker-upper thing held onto the top, so it would be less likely to fall on the guy who cut down what was left of the tree.
He is on his knees, with a chainsaw. It never occurred to me what contortions would be required of the tree-cutter, if a very short stump was part of the goal.........
TIMBER!
These tree remainders were of a length that allowed them to fit into the truck....
These were just two of many ailing trees in the neighborhood that were removed in the last week or two. It's sad when the big old trees go down. At least these were all in bad shape. Less sad than when trees come down because they are in the way of wires, say........
I haven't shown you my route through the neighborhood lately. The 5th was a nice day to walk. Sunny, not too windy, and the footing was secure.
The next shot was taken immediately after the previous one. Looking in a more southerly direction, the camera chose an exposure that fit the sun, rather than the ground........

Look at all that snow!
What gorgeous photographs, they quite warmed me up!
Thanks. Mariana!
Sarah -- grateful to not live in Boston this winter! We have a gracious plenty of snow. I can only imagine trying to deal with as much as they have. "Where to put the snow" was an issue here, last winter, and we had much less than they have.........
