May 6

.

On the 6th I took the car in to have some work done.  It needed an oil change, a new ball joint, and a new muffler.

I usually take Summit to get to Main Street Motors.  Summit was torn up, I'd been told, so I took an alternate route that I am not sure I've ever taken before.  Hiscock.

I saw lots of interesting houses on the way, so I after I dropped off the car, I walked home on Hiscock, so I could look more closely, and take pics.

Some of the interesting houses are brand new.  These four have been built in the last five years or so.  The spacing seems really tight.  I don't think you used to be allowed to build single-family dwellings so close to each other, so I'm wondering if the zoning has been changed, or if these are condos, or what.  I like the colors, and I'd like to see what they look like inside.  I think of this side as the back, having driven by on the opposite side (and having seen what I decided was the front on that side......).

Crab apples were perfect on May 6.  The lighting/exposure is odd here, as I was looking straight into the sun for this shot.

I don't know what this is.  It was a small tree, I think.

Another lovely crab, which looks nice with its blue house.

Little house with very nice garden.

Fritillaria, with orange tulips (and other colors, too).  Along with a few narcissus and an azalea.  And pansies, let's not forget the pansies.

A closer look at the fritillaria and the orange tulips.

Speaking of orange tulips!  Someone else's yard had a whole flock of orange tulips.  At least two different kinds.

I think these are Virginia bluebells.

Here's a mise-en-scene, so you can see how big they are.  Between one and two feet tall, I think.

Viburnum.  One of my most favorites of all.  They are pretty, and I love the scent.

This neighborhood (north of Miller, between Main and Brooks) is very interesting.  It is older than my neighborhood, mostly, I'm pretty sure.  It's much more varied.  Tinier houses than in my neighborhood, and huger ones, too.  There are some ENORMOUS lots in this neighborhood.  Some of those big lots are very woodsy.

My neighborhood doesn't have any gravel driveways disappearing around bends or over hill tops, leading off to barely visible houses.

Flowers -- both neighborhoods have flowers.  Viburnum at top left, with two quinces and at least two forsythia.  In front there are lots of pansies, forget-me-nots, and some balloonflowers.  And maybe some daylilies coming?

Here's a tiny house.  There may be an addition on the back, but I kind of think there wasn't.

I don't want a red roof, myself, but isn't it excellent that one can get one if one pleases?  Nice flowers, too.

I can't remember exactly how close this next house was to the previous one, but the images were taken one minute apart.  So -- pretty close.  This house is huge.

At least -- I think this is all one house.  I think the front bit and the back bit are connected.

Huge, and very modern.  Very different from the little yellow house with the red roof.  I'd like to see the inside.  Of both of them!
