June 20

.

We picked up breakfast things at the Deli, but didn't stay there to eat.  I did not try these, but I bet they are yummy.

We went home, ate, packed up, and went up north to a nephew's wedding.  He and his bride are long-time friends.  The ceremony was very nice -- personal and meaningful.

I don't like to post identifiable pics of people, so this has gone through a couple of filters.  I like this happy and dramatic image.  We wish them all the best!

We had some time between the wedding and the reception.  This very nice large garden area was close to the reception, so we went there and strolled around.

There was a stream running around through the gardens, with many bridges.  We are big Winnie the Pooh fans, at our house.  We decided to play Pooh Sticks, which involves each player dropping a stick from the upstream side of the bridge, and then watching from the downstream side of the bridge to see which stick comes by first.

We dropped three sticks at the same time (and I dropped another, a moment later), but they were much more spread out when they appeared on the other side of the bridge.  We decided the water flow was not even -- we think it was faster on the side that is to the left in this image.  (See the pink circles around our "sticks"...)

We could have spent much longer, exploring the differences in how fast things moved.  Shape of stick?  Placement from one side of the bridge to the other?  How much other stuff was in the water around the stick?  What would happen if you dropped a pine cone and a stick?  Many science experiments could be performed!

It was a nice day for a stroll in the park.

There is a big rose garden.

We went to the wedding reception.  Many nice things were said publicly and privately by many people.  We got a chance to talk to a lot of relatives, including some I'd never met before.  Many nice people!

We discovered my daughter is a third cousin of the son of one of her co-workers.  It made me wonder how often we meet our third (fourth, fifth, ...) cousins, and never know it..............

My better half is one of six cousins on his mother's side, all boys.  One of them brought a photo of the six, taken in the 1970s.  They decided to pose in the same grouping, and our daughter turned the two pics into one image, Then, and Now.

The father of the groom told us that someone had decided that all of the males in the wedding party should have bright socks to wear in the wedding, and here are his.  Very silly (and we like silly).
