a really brilliant guy leveraging crowd-sourcing to do good!

Luis von Ahn is an entertainging speaker, and a brilliant guy with really creative ideas focused on doing good in the world.

Did you know that every time you type a captcha you are helping books get digitized?  Two million books a year are being digitized with help from each of us, every time we type a captcha.

Amazing, yes?

A more recent project is to teach people foreign languages in part by getting them to translate articles.  It's called Duolingo, and the translation it does (combining the efforts of many learners) is said to be as good as that of a paid human translator.

Amazing, again!
