My rose!
This rose is one of the few plants still in the yard from before we bought the house. I am not fond of plants with thorns, and I do not fuss (or spray poisons). A plant that can't make it on its own is not going to survive in my yard.
This rose has survived, blooming now and in the fall, every year since we bought the house in 1985.
This year, we weren't sure it made it. All of the existing canes seemed to be dead, dead, dead.
You can imagine how pleased I was to see a few blooms this week!
All of the old canes are dead, I'm pretty sure, but the rose has sprouted from its roots...........
I was afraid that two winters in a row with temps near -20 (F) had done it in. But here it is, in it's coral-pink glory. Hooray!
